“NOT” – Is apparently the most commonly used word when people are asked about their regrets.
Regrets generally cover a host of topics, yet they are almost all preceded by a single word. “Not”. The regret of not doing something. Not something they actually did do….. but what they did not do.
I am going to guess that if you were to ask someone why they did “not” do something the common denominator would be another single word. Fear. Fear of failure. Fear of getting laughed at, messing up, falling short, you name it. They feared an embarrassing, uncomfortable, undesired outcome, so they did nothing. Just stayed on the porch of life.
Know this, if you want to move forward you are going to fail. You are going to fail, until you get it right. Then you will fail some more, just not as often or as royally. Don’t let fear of failure derail your plans and ambitions.
Fear is not of God. Know that. Fear is one of satan’s greatest tools used to keep us right where we are and from becoming what God intended us to become. “God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and self-control”. (2 Timothy 1:7)
When fear shows up also remember Isaiah 41:10, which states – “Do not fear, for I am with you…I am your God….I will strengthen you….I will help you….I will uphold you…..”. I mean seriously, what else do you need if you have all of THAT going for you?!
Get off the porch of life. Seek God’s plan for your life. Rely on His strength not your own and become who God created you to become. You won’t regret it!
Get in the boat. Do your part.
