It seems that every time I look up another someone, another family is dealing with sickness. Amidst the constant “see my perfect life” story line that is social media there is pain. It is there for everyone. It just depends on what form it comes in. The most shared form of pain seems to be physical illness.
The ubiquity of social media delivers not only the good times we all enjoy sharing and reading about but also the not so good. The ones where someone reaches out for help, often for prayer. For ourselves, for a loved one, for a friend. For deliverance from or to be healed of “something”.
Ultimately illness and loss is part of life. Our bodies give out. Sometimes after a long life, sometimes too early, sometimes tragically in an instant. It’s coming. It’s just part of the deal.
The good news? Healing, in Christ, is part of the deal too. You just have to accept it. We may very well be healed “here” and healed often over a lifetime but there is no guarantee. There is a guarantee though of healing “there”. Along with an eternal reunion with our loved ones when we arrive. It’s part of His deal.
At 48 I’ve lost family members that were close to me. Some way too early, some after a good long life that was becoming a difficult life. They are all healed. I take great comfort in that.
I also take great comfort in knowing that whenever I’m done “here”, I’m going “there” to see them again. I’m going “there” because I accepted the deal Christ offered. I’m all in. You signed up?
Get in the boat. Do your part.
