“The Disruptors”

I sat down recently to get some work done and within an hour I had filled up a piece of paper with random thoughts that crossed my mind. None of these random thoughts were related to the real estate work I was doing.

It all started when the word, “Disruptor”, crossed my radar. Unlike the other words I had read, it literally yelled at me as it went by. I stopped and wrote it down.

Stopping to ponder something does very little, you can ponder something until the cows come home. The power is in “taking action”, in this case simply putting pen to paper, because that puts things in motion. Applies to so much in life.

Back to that word, “Disruptor”….

The world we live in today sends us a constant message. It tells us to get along, go along, play nice, don’t offend or rock the boat.

On the flip side, when it comes to our Faith, we are told something entirely and completely different. The directive is, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world”. (Romans 12:2)

In short, “Disrupt” the status quo that constantly tells you to live for the now, to live for the world, and instead…. live for Christ, while you are in this world.

When I began doing this several years ago, my life changed. That’s just how it works.

Since making that decision, I can say from experience that daring to offer a different, sometimes unpopular, stance in both actions and words can often take some courage. Do it anyway!

Begin within yourself by choosing to be “Disruptive” to the enemy’s daily assaults on your life. Don’t take the constant attacks against you lying down, fight back.

Then take a deep breath and take it a step further….

Choose to be “Disruptive” to the enemy’s work in the lives of those around you, and in this world, by sharing what God is doing in your life.

Look, I am a has been baseball player that put my Faith, and my identity, in a game until I was 27 years old. When that era of my life ended, I put my Faith, and again my identity, in the “things” of this world. By age forty-five, they had both let me down.

The change in my life happened when, out of options and at the end of myself, I finally put my Faith, and then built my new identity on an eternal foundation, in Jesus Christ.

Today I am led to share God’s work, what He is doing in and through my life, with others. Simple as that.

I’ll share it with basically anyone that wants to listen, and sometimes people that don’t. That simple act makes me very “Disruptive” to the enemy.

So, here is the writer downer.…

Choose to “Not conform any longer to the pattern of this world” in your own life and live for the eternal, not the temporary.

Then choose to move beyond being a passive recipient of God’s grace and share that grace in the manner you are led to share it.Work your gift!

If we choose our title, and we do choose our title, I like the title of “Disruptor “…. because it beats the socks off having to wear a t-shirt that reads “Conformer”.

Get in The Boat. Do Your Part.

From Nose to Toes!
