As I walked to the kitchen this morning the enemy was already starting in on me, reminding me of everything I had on my plate to do before Monday morning showed up, as well as in the week to come.
As I leaned against the kitchen counter watching a cup of yesterday’s coffee heat up in the microwave, those four words kept playing over and over in my head…. So Much To Do.
If anyone doesn’t think the enemy is at war with God, at war with you and your loved ones, for our eternal souls, 24 hours a day…. then they better think again.
Truth is, if we were half as committed to ANY goal in life as the enemy was in winning our soul for an eternity in hell with him, then our success in that goal would be all but guaranteed.
Thankfully, God is even more committed to winning our soul to spend eternity in Heaven with Him, than the Devil has power to overcome. We need only seek God, through Christ, accept Him, follow Him, and the war is won…. yet the earthly battles will always continue. (Read that twice)
“So much to do, so much to do”. Yes, I heard you the first fitty leven times you told me. Roger that minion.
Yesterday, a friend of mine, Alisha Harrell Slay, shared a post about not just church attendance, but church participation. Church not as a once-a-week act of showing up for our gold star, but as an active participation in The Church, The Body Of Believers.
There is power in that choice, that consistent act of obedience, of not just attending but becoming involved with other Christ followers. I can attest to it, and I responded to my friend’s post with the following comment…
Alisha Harrell Slay on New Years Day, Sunday January 1, 2017…. I made the decision that I would not miss church for the entirety of 2017. I would find a church somewhere and show up for a service every Sunday, in town or out of town, no matter what for all 53 Sundays of 2017. I didn’t miss for 87 Sundays, then I didn’t miss again for 84 more Sundays. In a little over three years, I missed once, and I rarely ever miss today. If it’s Sunday, I get up and I “arrive expectantly”. So, what happened? It changed my life. (End of comment)
Yeah, the truth is, I do have “So Much To Do” today and that won’t change tomorrow, or the day after that, and so on and so forth, which makes it even more important that I refresh my spirit today, refresh my soul, prepare them both for the week to come.
This morning, I’ve got a to do list a mile long, a forehead full of stitches, I didn’t sleep long enough last night, it’s going to be a long week, I hear ya minions, I hear ya, but….
I am going to get dressed shortly, and I am going to “Arrive…. Expectantly”!
Just like I did last week and, God willing, just like I will next week, because prioritizing God in my life and making it to church on Sunday has become the foundation of this Faith walk that I began ten years ago.
Simply put, for me, prioritizing church on Sunday, has changed my life. Then again…. why wouldn’t it.
Get In The Boat. Do Your Part.
Arrive Expectantly…. From Nose To Toes!
