When I played minor league baseball years ago, it wasn’t uncommon for me to wake up and have no idea what town, or even what state, I was in.
It would come to me, but I often had to think about it for a few seconds. Sometimes, I would ask my roomie to tell me. Occasionally he would pause for a second or so, not so sure himself.
This morning I woke up, with remarkable clarity. When I opened my eyes, I was looking through a skylight, as wide as I could see, at a crystal blue sky, and once again…. I had absolutely no idea where I was.
I slowly pulled my left leg up to me, and my hip didn’t grind like it usually does. I slowly turned my neck, no pain. I began slowly tightening and relaxing the muscles in my body to bring them back to life, pain didn’t radiate across my lower back and upper hips. Wow.
Laying there peacefully under that beautiful blue sky, everything worked, nothing hurt, and I still had no idea where I was. Then it hit me…. I was dreaming.
I immediately opened my eyes…. to comfort, but complete darkness, and I knew right where I was in that moment.
I slowly pulled my left leg up to me, and my hip ground slightly. I slowly turned my neck, and there was that familiar ache and sharp pain. I began tightening and relaxing my muscles to bring them back to life, and pain radiated across my lower back and upper hips. Another morning.
Then out of nowhere, was that tug…. get up, let’s write! So, I did.
For a brief moment though, before the toil of another day began…. everything was fine, everything was beautiful, everything worked, nothing hurt, and there was just this amazing wonderful beautiful all encompassing…. Peace.
I might have started my day off questioning where I was, but there is no question in my mind as to where I am one day going.
For the sake of clarity, I am in no hurry to get there. I’ve got Kingdom work to do here, a life to live one day at a time, people to love on, and a God to brag on, but….
I have to wonder if that’s how it works. One day you just wake up under that big beautiful peaceful blue sky…. and it just never ends.
Get In The Boat. Do Your Part.
Press On…. From Nose To Toes!
