We’ve all heard the saying “Faith Over Fear”….
I see it plastered on bumper stickers, t-shirts, coffee cups, you name it. The message is strong, simple, and powerful but there is one key and unspoken ingredient…. choice.
Like everything else in life there is a decision to be made and at some point, perhaps often, you must decide to actually choose Faith…. instead of defaulting into fear.
What does that look like though? Well, speaking for myself….
When worry shows up in the wee hours of my morning, intent on robbing me of my sleep and my peace, I choose to get up and fight back (Faith), instead of lying there and taking it (fear).
I go instead to my study table in the living room and sit with God, let Him place a hedge of protection and Peace around me while I commune with Him. I choose to seek God’s presence, and the enemy has no choice but to retreat when He shows up. Faith, instead of fear.
When the storms in my life, or on the horizon, look beyond my ability to weather them, I do my best to focus on past storms that I have weathered, with God’s help (Faith), instead of focusing on the storm itself or the one that is coming (fear).
To date, no storm in my life has lasted forever. God has gotten me around, over, or through everything the enemy has thrown at me. Why would today be the day he chooses to let me be consumed? Faith, instead of fear.
I could name example after example, but the writer downer is this….
When you choose Faith, when you choose to feed your mind and your spirit with the unfailing promises of God’s word and His unfailing love, you open the door for heaven to be set in motion in your defense and to date…. Heaven is undefeated.
So, choose Faith today. Actively CHOOSE to seek and meditate on the promises offered by the Lord, instead of the worry, dread, and anxiety that is offered by the enemy.
Faith and fear cannot occupy the same space and when God shows up the enemy has no choice but to retreat.
